In lottery circles, there is some serious debate today about tonight’s eleven-times rollover jackpot. So the question is, is the Euromillions Rollover Jackpot the biggest ever? Several major UK newspapers are running the lottery news story today that the Euromillions jackpot is a record jackpot, and it should be a simple question to answer. However, as the Euromillions Lottery is the first to span more than one currency, something unprecedented has happened today regarding lottery records.

In pounds sterling form – which is how we play the Euromillions in the UK – tonight’s Euromillions Lottery jackpot and it’s £136 million jackpot, beats the record by £10 million. The biggest Euromillions jackpot ever won is £126 million, and so tonight’s jackpot smashes that.
However, as the Euromillions Lottery is the first to span more than one currency, exchange rates must be taken into consideration, and when the Euromillions jackpot mentioned above was on in 2006, the exchange rates were much different to now. In 2006, when this record Euromillions jackpot was won, £126 million was worth €183 million, over €30 million more than the current jackpot. This means if a European player wins the Euromillions jackpot tonight, the record will not be smashed.
So will we see a new Euromillions record jackpot? Only if we see a UK Euromillions winner! Wherever you are, don’t forget your lottery tickets for tonight’s £136 million (€151 million) Euromillions draw and don’t forget to check the EuroMillions results after the draw to see if you're a winner.
