Interest grows in Cowell Lottery show

A few months ago we brought you the news that music mogul Simon Cowell was in talks about a new lottery style gameshow in the UK for ITV1; we had begun to think our sources had been wrong, but the story has now resurfaced and the show even has a name. Interest has grown in the Cowell Lottery show and several of the nation’s newspapers have been hearing secrets about the show, reportedly to be named ‘Roulette’.
The UK National Lottery will in no way endorse the show and it actually looks as though the two shows may go head to head on a Saturday night. It’s said that Ant and Dec will front the new show, where players will pay £1 a ticket and then hope to be selected for the live Saturday night show. Each show is going to start with around 17,000 contestants and these will be dwindled down for the live show, players who make it through to the show will then have to compete against each other in ‘challenges’ to win the big prize at the end.

Mr Cowell seems convinced that this lottery style show will be an instant winner, but many in the industry don’t agree. In fact, many wonder if this will be one fat turkey, and what that would do to the man who seems to have the Midas touch. Other lottery gameshows have been launched in the past, plus games such as interactive bingo and the Bingo Lottery show, none of these shows have been a success so we’ll have to wait and see what sort of interest this new lottery show gets!
A pilot episode for the show will be filmed in June, possibly from Wembley Stadium and should the show run, it’s likely to go head to head with the UK National Lottery show over on BBC1.
