An Eritrean man who entered Sweden illegally has just won 1.2 million kronor playing the Swedish National Lottery Triss scratchcard. The immigrant lottery winner is allowed to keep his winnings under Swedish law even though authorities have been attempting to deport back to his nation of origin with no success for three years.
Tesfaldet Tesloy, a 28 year old man from Eritrea who had entered Sweden illegally three years earlier was being interviewed in front of the TV cameras on Saturday after scooping a huge1.2 million kronor ($167,000) lottery jackpot win playing a Triss lottery scratchcard.

After an unsuccessful application for a Swedish residence permit in 2006 Mr Tesloy was informed that he was to be scheduled for deportation. However the Swedish Government says it has approximately 12,000 people awaiting deportation which is a difficult legal issue for them because under international law their home countries, namely Eritrea in this case, must accept their immigrant citizen back before the citizen can be deported unless the immigrant themselves agree to being sent home.
Lottery winner, Tesloy is unable to legally work in Sweden but plans to live out his dream, which he says is to set up a physical therapy business with his lottery winnings instead.
