The Western Canada Lottery Corporation are scratching their heads today as a homeless man finds lottery scratch cards, $2,000 worth to be exact. The man was digging through a dumpster for cans to sell for recycling on Monday but found the tickets instead, stashed in a white rubbish bag inside the bin. Mr Gillespie did the right thing and handed the whole lot in.
The $2,000 worth of tickets are all unscratched with many still sealed in plastic, others are held together in bundles with elastic bands.

The homeless man did consider keeping the tickets and either scratching them off for himself or selling them, but decided to be honest. He called the Western Canada Lottery Corporation, explaining that he had the scratch cards, then dug around for enough change for the bus far and dropped them off at Western Canada Lottery Corporations local office.
The Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission, who run the lottery are now investigating how the tickets could have found their way into the rubbish bin and where exactly they came from. No reward was offered to Mr Gillespie, the homeless man who found the tickets and he didn’t ask for one saying he just wanted to do the right thing.
The Western Canada Lottery Corporation is just one of the lotteries running in Canada with the biggest one being the Ontario Gaming Commission who run the Canada Lotto 6/49, draws for the 6/49 are held twice weekly, every Wednesday and Saturday evening and you can play the draw from anywhere in the world by clicking the link above.
