In a fantastic feel-good story for the New Year, Ground Zero workers scoop a Mega Millions prize worth $250,000 in a thrown-together lottery syndicate. Many impromptu syndicates both from American and world lottery players sprung up with the $380 million jackpot last week and this group of construction workers, working on Ground Zero, New York were one such group. Well before the Mega Millions reached quite such giddy heights, the group all threw $5 onto the table, the rest as they say, is history.
The group of construction workers are now celebrating, and while they didn’t win the jackpot, and with 18 of them, it isn’t a life-changing amount of cash, but it’s so nice to see a group share a Mega Millions win in this way. After taxes and when split between the 18, the $250,000 Mega Millions Lottery win will give each of them a little under $10,000.
The group used the ‘Quick Pick’ option to choose their lottery numbers and got all five main balls correct in the Mega Millions draw, in fact the only ball out was the Mega Ball, the group had number 18 and number 16 was drawn. Of course, the group missing out on the Mega Millions jackpot allowed it to continue growing to the staggering $390 million jackpot, shared by two players last weekend.
The next Mega Millions Lottery draw is to be held on Tuesday evening and you can buy tickets online, from anywhere in the world by clicking the banner above.
