Friends fight over Oz Lotto jackpot

Australian LotteryA group of three men from Australia are currently involved in a deep feud over a A$13 million lottery win. As the friends fight over Oz Lotto jackpot, the whole sum has been frozen by the court and right now it doesn’t look like any of them will be seeing the money soon. The three men, Eugene Te Pairi, Brett Pretty and Gary Garlick are about to fight for their share in Victoria’s grand sandstone Supreme Court.

The three mates were partying together in the Melbourne seaside are of Callum almost two years ago having bought many Oz Lotto tickets between them the night before. They woke in the morning to discover their quick draw ticket was a winner and worth more then A$13 million.

Unfortunately, within weeks, the friends had fallen out about how the lottery win was to be shared. Many deals and compromises were attempted but now negotiations have descended into a bitter feud. Later this month the three ex-friends will be forced to fight it out in the courts.

It should serve as a cautionary tale about friends and money and agreements. The three friends pooled $340 cash to buy the lottery tickets but how much each one threw in is now in dispute.

Until they can agree on a settlement, this matter will roll on until decided by a judge later this month.

If you’re going to pool with friends to buy lottery tickets then make sure you get a syndicate agreement, who knows what might happen otherwise.
