Euromillions Winner Tried to Bribe Cop

Euromillions A French Euromillions winner tried to bribe a cop who caught him drunk at the wheel of a Ferrari and has been found guilty in court this week. Pascal Brun was a mere butcher before his €26 million Euromillions win in 2004 and soon after his win began collecting Italian Sports cars but he won’t be collecting anything for a while after being handed a six-month jail sentence.

Police who apprehended Mr Brun over near Bordeaux noticed he seemed very drunk after asking him to move his yellow Ferrari which was parked near the sea front. Upon breathalysing the Euromillions winner he was discovered to be more than four times over the drink drive limit.

Mr Brun invited the two traffic wardens to his house for an aperitif and offered them €1,000 to turn a blind-eye.

On Monday the lottery winner was convicted of drink-driving and of trying to corrupt a public official and handed a six month jail sentence, including three suspended and ordered to pay €500 in damages to each police officer. The punishment still has to be reviewed by a sentencing magistrate but his lawyer plans to ask for his client to wear an electronic tag rather than go to jail.

His car has been impounded since the case and his driving license has been revoked. In his defence his lawyer claimed that Mr Brun had been lonely since his lottery win and cars were his only passion.
