EuroMillions Superdraw

A EuroMillions Superdraw boasting a jackpot of £104 million (€130 million) will be held on Friday 26 September, 2008. Because it’s a superdraw, the jackpot is guaranteed to be paid out, so if nobody matches all of the numbers required to win the top prize, the money will roll down to the next prize tier that does have winners.
EuroMillions superdraws are always popular, for two reasons. The first is the sheer size of the jackpot on offer. €130 million is a massive amount of cash, and unlike many lotteries that pay out similar sized jackpots in a series of 20 or 25 smaller payments, EuroMillions jackpot winners receive the full amount in one go.
The second reason why Euromillions superdraws are so popular is because, as we said a few moments ago, the jackpot cash is guaranteed to be paid out. This means it isn’t always necessary to match all five main numbers and both Lucky Star numbers to win a life-changing sum of money.
To illustrate that last point, let’s take a look at what happened in the two previous EuroMillions superdraw games. In February 2008 the jackpot fund of €130 million was rolled down to 16 players who matched five main numbers and just one Lucky Star, giving each one €8.6 million (£6.4 million). A similar thing happened in September 2007, when no outright winner meant that the €130 million jackpot was rolled down to 14 second-prize winners, giving them €9.8 million (£6.9 million) each.
The September 2008 EuroMillions Superdraw jackpot will eclipse the £77 million won by Delores McNamara in July 2005. Of course, whether a single winner will beat odds of 1 in 76,275,360 to win the entire sum – and beat her record in the process – remains to be seen, but you can be sure that there will be plenty of players hoping to do just that!
