Euromillions Stripogram

An elderly gentleman became an unwitting Euromillions stripogram this week as he stripped off all but his underwear in frustration at his local Tesco store. Norman Matthews of Weybridge went into his local Tesco Extra store to purchase two Euromillions tickets at £1.50 each and a £2 scratch card but soon things turned ugly over an argument about payment for the tickets.
Mr Matthews paid for his tickets with a £10 note but moments later the woman cashier refused to give him his tickets or his change because she thought she had already handed them over. The gentleman – a regular at the Tesco Extra – showed the cashier his wallet to prove there was neither the tickets nor a £5 note in there but she said they must be in his pocket. Knowing he only had small change in his pocket Mr Matthews asked a security guard to search him, the guard declined.

Not wanting to be branded a thief over the Euromillions Lottery tickets and as a matter of principle Mr Matthews, 68 stripped to his underwear much to the dismay of the staff and customers at the store. Mr Matthews is quoted as saying “people were watching and taking pictures on their phones, but this was a matter of principle, I’ve never stolen anything in my life and will not be treated like a thief”.
The manager of the Tesco extra store felt he had no choice but to bar Mr Matthews from the store for the rest of the day while he calmed down.
Although the gentleman did receive an apology and a £10 Tesco voucher upon his return he feels the store manager could have dealt with the situation better.
It is not known whether his Euromillions ticket was a winning one but maybe he’d be better playing the Euromillions lottery online in future.
