As the Euromillions had reached its cap, it was thought by many players that the entire jackpot would roll down, however as explained on these pages, it’s just the additional funds that rolled down to the 5 +1 tier, the actual €185 million jackpot will remain there until someone matches five main balls and a lucky star.
It means that second tier prizes tonight were huge and are likely to get even bigger for Tuesday. The 5 +1 prize fund last night was worth close on €20 million, about 5 times what it normally is, and that meant the six players who matched this prize, each win well over €3 million! So while the jackpot proves impossible, the chances of becoming a millionaire increase, as second tier prizes swell beyond all recognition!
In all over 7 million Euromillions Lottery players walked away with a prize in last night’s draw and in the UK alone, over £18 million worth of prize money was paid out; not a bad haul considering the jackpot was not won!
