Last night's Euromillions results revealed no jackpot winners meaning a rollover for the Friday draw but more interestingly there wasn't a single winner in the second prize tier who matched five main balls and one Lucky Star either. The last time we saw neither a jackpot winner or a match five and one Lucky Star winner was back in August 2011 on Euromillions draw no. 405 but prior to that we hadn't seen this happen since June 2010 on draw no. 332. In total there have been 13 draws in the history of the Euromillions draw (including last night) that have failed to produce a jackpot winner or a match five and one Lucky Star winner; the first happened on the 18th Euromillions draw on 11th June 2004.

If we look at the numbers for each draw, are there any glaring reasons as to why this anomaly should happen?

  • Draw no. 39 - 6, 19, 25, 42, 49 Lucky Stars 1 and 7
  • Draw no. 35 - 1, 10, 12, 16, 48 Lucky Stars 2 and 6
  • Draw no. 29 - 1, 11, 22, 28, 44 Lucky Stars 1 and 9
  • Draw no. 28 - 6, 9, 10, 27, 35 Lucky Stars 6 and 8
  • Draw no. 22 - 2, 5, 12, 19, 44 Lucky Stars 8 and 9
  • Draw no. 20 - 3, 21, 30, 34, 35 Lucky Stars 1 and 2

There isn't anything obvious in the number patterns although a mathematician or a statistician might notice something that we aren't seeing. We hope you found this information as interesting as we did when we noticed how few Euromillions results fail to produce winners on the top two prize tiers; just under 3% in total have produced this outcome to date.

The jackpot for Friday's Euromillions is estimated at £22 / €27 million.
