Eighteen Winners for South Africa Lotto

It’s always nice to see one of our Global Lotteries make someone a millionaire but on the February 7th draw there was even more reason to celebrate with no less than eighteen winners for the South Africa Lotto. The jackpot was high meaning that every single winner became a millionaire in the draw defying odds of more than one in 13 million to select all the correct numbers in the draw.
In fact it’s such an amazing occurrence that it has many South Africans scratching their heads as to how it could have happened. In fact some went as far to say they would never buy another lotto ticket, believing trickery was afoot in the February 7th draw.

The chances of it happening of course are billions to one, but just like consecutive lottery numbers and multi rollover draws it’s all down to chance when you play the lottery. It’s hard to believe that the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 have as much chance as any of being drawn but that’s the thing with the lottery, no one knows what might happen.
This isn’t the first time this has happened in a South Africa Lotto draw and although it is rare it isn’t unheard of. In fact back in 2003 one South Africa Lotto draw had an amazing thirty three jackpot winners. In 2001 nineteen players shared the jackpot showing that although improbable it isn’t impossible especially when you consider that 7.5 million tickets were sold for the draw in question.
However, as improbable as it may be it still has a long way to go to match the 133 jackpot winners in the UK National Lottery one week in 1995.
