When Charlotte Peters lost her husband to a heart-attack the last thing on her mind was remembering to check his lottery tickets but it’s a good job she did as her dead husband won $10 million lottery prize. It’s a bitter-sweet story as her husband died whilst gardening before even realising he was a winner on the Connecticut lottery draw.
Hours before Mr Peters died of a heart attack whilst out gardening the 79 year old had bought two tickets for the Connecticut lottery and one of those tickets came in, landing his newly widowed wife a $10 million fortune.
It is of course small consolation for Mrs Peters who understandably hasn’t planned any great shopping sprees yet after losing her husband of 59 years but the cash should at least make her financially secure for the rest of her days, something her husband would surely be happy about.
A lottery spokesperson spoke to the Peter’s children who think their father would have found comedy in the great twist of fate, ‘he’d be mad’ said Brian Peters one of the couple’s three children, he’d say ‘Figures!’ to win the lottery after his death.
Charlotte Peters must be feeling pretty topsy-turvy right now after such awful and then fantastic news in such a short space of time although no doubt there will come a day soon when she thanks her lucky stars for such a fantastic win.
The Connecticut lottery is just one of many lotteries running across the US, the main draws are the Mega Millions and Powerball, these are multi-state lotteries that run across America although there are many state lotteries just like the Connecticut lottery playing in many states.
