We’ve been following it for weeks, the SuperEnalotto Italy, with a jackpot that has now hit €126 million. But as the rest of us vie to be the big winner one Italian Council bets its budget on the SuperEnalotto hoping that if the town wins, it can become a tax-haven. Mayor Antonio Amente has announced that Melito, near Naples will be using part of their budget to buy lottery tickets on the SuperEnalotto, every draw until the SuperEnalotto jackpot is won.
So it’s not just Italian Lottery players and world lottery syndicates getting into the SuperEnalotto action, now a whole town is to buy lottery tickets. The town of 35,000 will be making its first bets on the SuperEnalotto Italy this week, with tonight’s €126.5 million jackpot being the first draw they play in. Council administrators will spend €15 a week, using funds from the mayor’s salary to try and guess the six correct numbers in the SuperEnalotto.
It’s lottery fever taken to an extent never seen before, but when you consider the SuperEnalotto Italy is the biggest world lottery jackpot right now, it’s easy to see why Italian’s are all going a bit crazy for the draw.
City officials believe they have as much chance of winning as they do raising money on the stock market, even with the odds at over 622 million to one. Mayor Amente will be using an old Neapolitan tradition for calculating the winning numbers and if he’s lucky, you will read about it here first on our lottery news pages!
