Cinema is a National Lottery Winner

Three cinemas in the East of England are celebrating today after receiving more than £30,000 of National Lottery funding from the UK Film Council in a bid to improve their facilities making film going a more enjoyable experience for its patrons. Making these cinemas National Lottery winners.
This raises the total given to cinemas across the UK to £475,000 across 56 cinemas from the UK Film Council’s Capital and Access Fund for local independent cinemas, all brought about by National Lottery funding for good causes.
The cinema at Sawston Village College in Cambridge was awarded £14,000 for a brand new projection screen and new sound equipment, while the Riverside Theatre in Woodbridge, Suffolk received almost £13,000 to fit a ramp and accessible toilet facilities for audiences who are mobility impaired and The Regal Cinema in Stowmarket, Suffolk was handed £3,500 to purchase new projection equipment. Cinema is a National Lottery winner in this case with them benefitting so much from money meant for good causes.
It is hoped the National Lottery cash for good causes will help to enable people with sensory and other impairments much better access to the cinemas and give cinema fans across the country improved and updated facilities.
Peter Buckingham, who holds the title Head of Distribution and Exhibition at the UK Film Council said this would be a helping hand to smaller independent cinemas who despite being an integral part of the local community cannot afford to upgrade their cinema facilities.
This is just one example of how the National Lottery is helping good causes right across the UK and improving standards and facilities for organisations who would otherwise struggle for cash, and as an ardent cinema-goer myself I have to say anything that improves facilities at some of these smaller venues has to be a good thing.
