Choosing Lottery Numbers

Getting those six little numbers sounds so easy but after 14 years of playing the UK National Lottery I think most of us now appreciate it’s not as easy as it looks. In fact the odds of winning are almost 1 in 14 million. So how do you go about choosing lottery numbers that may increase your chances of winning? How do you choose yours?
Many people go for dates, memorable numbers like birthdays and anniversaries. You can be sure that you can easily choose six memorable dates from your family but this only takes your numbers up to 31 at the most, leaving 18 numbers forgotten. Of course there’s every chance you may win on these numbers and surely lots of people have, in fact it’s often noted that lottery draws with low numbers have more winners than the ones with high numbers. This could easily mean that if you do hit the big jackpot on the UK National Lottery with birthday numbers you could well be sharing the jackpot.

Other people use the stick-a-pin-in method, just see where your pen takes you and pick your numbers at random. Interestingly when you use this method you will often find that you create a pattern on your draw sheet. By trying to choose random numbers you’re actually choosing numbers that are spaced apart and not covering consecutive numbers, when it’s been shown that many UK National Lottery draws throw up consecutive numbers on a regular basis.
The other way of choosing your lottery numbers, or not as the case maybe is to use a random number generator or lucky dip. This can often be the best way to choose lottery numbers for the UK National Lottery as it means you are choosing your numbers exactly as the machine chooses them, completely at random and lottery winners using the lucky dip method are getting more and more frequent.
