Binned Lottery Ticket a Winner

Raymond and Rachel Orr thought it was just another week without a winner when their local post office told them their Irish Lottery ticket was worthless but now they have had a big surprise. Their binned lottery ticket was a winner and thanks to their local postmistress they are now celebrating being €25,000 richer.
The couple from Donegal in Ireland play the Irish Lottery regularly and often get their tickets checked at the local post office, so they were not surprised to find their lottery ticket was not a winner.

However two months on their local postmistress contacted them, she had retrieved the two-month old ticket from the post office bin, checked it again against the Irish Lottery results and found it was a winner after all. The postmistress then went on to contact the couple to let them know that actually their ticket was worth €25,000.
Mr and Mrs Orr say the act has restored their faith in human nature and are blown away by the honesty shown by the postmistress in ensuring that the lottery win went to its rightful owners.
Rachel Orr is quoted as saying that she could have easily pocketed the win and the couple would have been none the wiser about the winning ticket. Another, less honest person might have pocketed the ticket for a couple of weeks and then claimed it for themselves.
This postmistress was an honest lady though and went to the bother of working out how much the Irish Lottery ticket was worth and contacting the couple, returning their ticket to them.
Not everyone is so honest though and it’s another good reason to play the lottery online, you never need to worry about losing another ticket as they are electronically stored. Plus with a multi-rollover and an estimated €12 million available in this Saturdays draw there’s every reason to grab a couple of tickets and try your luck.
