The Australian Powerball lottery has made four men very rich indeed after they took home the $58 million prize. The four men, two who are married and two who are single, where sitting having a coffee together and decided to have a crack at winning what is the biggest prize in the history of the game in Australia. The syndicate organiser is reported as saying that the tickets purchase was a “spur of the moment thing.
The winners all herald from Melbourne and bought their ticket at a local Reservoir newsagent with a total cost of $32.70, each of the four men now have a bank balance some $14,676,675 healthier.
The owner of the Reservoir Newsagency, Dean Schultz, is quoted as saying that he is “exhilarated at the newsagencies involvement in Australia’s biggest lottery win.”
It was reported quite early on that Reservoir Newsagency was the venue the ticket had been bought from but initially the winners didn’t come forward and there were media teams, photographers and TV crews all camped outside hoping to catch news of the winners.
This was not the only win in Thursday night’s lottery game there were more than 1.3 million winners who won prizes ranging from $11.20 to $75,000.
The winning numbers were 5, 21, 11, 38 and 2 with the power ball number as 33.
