In Detroit, USA a man who has worked for the parts division of the Ford Motor company for 35 years has finally said “I’m out of here” to his bosses. David Sneath from Detroit, Michigan won $136 million on the state’s Mega Millions Lottery in March 2008. After taxes he gets to take home a cheque for $59.6 million and plans to spend it on a new house, a fishing boat, and a new car.
David is also part of a works syndicate who buy tickets each week but his winning ticket was bought for him by his son using David’s own numbers. However, just to show there’s no hard feelings, he’s giving each of the other four syndicate members a present of $1 million each.
In Illinois, USA a Pharmacist knew in December 2007 that she’d won a share of $163million from the state lottery, but she did not go public until March 2008. Even so, she’s refused to give her name but did pose with large sunglasses on for a press conference. In the three months she’s been planning with lawyers and accountants how best to save and spend the money and provide for her family. $81.5 million goes a long way when planned properly.
