$63 million in Lotto Max pot

While we’ve all been fussing about the Powerball Lottery jackpot, the Lotto Max Canada has been growing unnoticed; last Friday it reached its $50 million ceiling but produced no winner and with $63 million in the Lotto Max pot this week it means that there will be $13 Maxmillions draws alongside the main Canada Lotto Max draw. Last Friday, even with a $45 million jackpot, not one player could match those seven magic numbers, creating one of the biggest lottery draws in the world this weekend.
The Lotto Max Canada is a Friday night draw, which means that there’s a few days left yet of lottery ticket sales, of course that means that we may see the jackpot pool climb even higher than $63 million but we do know that the main jackpot will remain at $50 million.
This is because of the unique way in which the Lotto Max Canada is played; jackpots are sealed at $50 million and cannot get any higher. So when the Lotto Max Canada jackpot topples the $50 million mark, separate draws are held; these draws are called Maxmillions and there is one for every whole $1 million the jackpot goes over $50 million.
So with $63 million up for grabs on Friday evening, there’s the potential for at least 14 millionaires; one from the main $50 million draw and another thirteen Maxmillions millions. Plus of course with the draw held in Canada, not the US, all these jackpots are entirely tax-free!
