California Lottery sales manager Cathy Baker said she was “on pins and needles waiting” for the winner to step forward and claim their life changing top prize. The lucky winner matched all five main numbers (10, 17, 25, 45 and 53) drawn on Saturday 20th July plus the Powerball (9) to secure the entire US$60 million jackpot. If the fortunate player opts for a cash lump sum rather than annuity payments, they will recieve a sum of $US35.9 million.

The owners of Cardenas Market will also be eager for the big winner to identify themselves as they will receive a fantastic retailer bonus of US$300,000 for selling the winning ticket once the winner has claimed their prize.

Marco Robles, public affairs director for Cardenas, said that while the company’s officials were waiting for the winner to come forward, they had not yet decided what to do with the unexpected windfall. Cardenas currently operates over 25 stores across California and Nevada but this weekend’s US$60 million Powerball ticket is the most valuable ticket they’ve ever sold. Robles also added that he hopes the winner is local as there is a lot of need in the surrounding area.

The store’s manager, Richard Ruiz, said the winner’s identity was “a big mystery” as the store sells too many lottery tickets to predict who purchased the winner. Did you purchase a Powerball ticket at the Cardenas Market for the last draw? If so, check your tickets now – you could be Powerball’s most recent multi-millionaire!

The next Powerball draw takes place on Wednesday and offers players a brand new jackpot worth US$40 million.
